Background
The Soviet Union hasn't alway been just with it's Ubers who faught in the defense of the Rodina and her peoples. Of the Ubers who faught Nazi aggression during the Great Patriotic War, only Fantom who like his namesake faded away like a ghost, and Siberia the shape changing bear woman who was exiled as far from Moscow as she could be sent were actually known to have survived, but there might have been others. As for Iron Hedgehog, he was executed during the Great Purge of the '50s. Lastly was the heroic Traktor who died during the Battle of Leningrad. A statue to the fallen hero still resides there today.

After the death of Stalin the Soviet Union continued to persecute Ubers. Those who did expose themselves publicly to the KGB were quickly and quietly silenced. Only Iron Curtain was known at the time, and he tried to work within the KGB to bring about possitive change, however his efforts were fruitless and he resigned in disgust. He was never seen again. The Soviet Union showed a strong distrust towards Ubers because it was felt by the highest levels of government that Ubers were too independent and could pose a threat to the Politburo.

It was the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan that brought about a reversal in the anti-Uber policy. Still the Politiburo did not trust Ubers, and assigned top KGB officals to oversee the creation of an all Uber task force to aid the Soviet military forces in Afghanistan. Naturally the GRU (Soviet Military Intelligence) opposed such an idea, prefering any Ubers to be under the control of the military. This was overruled by the Politburo.

A year after the invasion, the KGB unveiled Oktober. The group consisted of fourteen Ubers, all considered loyal to the Soviet Union. After the ten year occupation of Afghanistan, several of the Ubers had been either seriously wounded or killed. Russian Winter was killed in action by an American Stinger missile, Volga died when a suicide bomber destroyed the barrack she was in, Super-Spetzna I was killed by friendly fire after he went totally berserk during a gun fight, and Sleper was captured by Mujhadeheed forces and was pressumed killed in action.

While the occupation was seen as a disaster, the Ubers of Oktober were treated like heroes. At first it was thought that the Politburo might disband Oktober, but an assassination attempt on General Secretary Brezhnev a few years before the invasion prompted their continued existance. After the war Super-Spetzna II was dispatched to Rome to attempt an assassination of Pope John Paul II. The attempt failed, and Super-Spetzna II was eliminated.

Under General Secretary Andropov, Oktober received greater funding. Some say the reason for this is because Andropov came from the KGB, and the KGB takes care of their own. Oktober came to the forefront of the world when they were responsible for the downing of a Korean civilian plane that strayed into Soviet airspace. From this point on the world public (non-Soviet) took a dim view of Oktober. Andropov's death ended a brief period of growth for Oktober.

Under the equally short rule of General Secretary Chernenko, Oktober were involved in a number of internal investigations, but nothing like the Great Purges before and after the Great Patriotic War. Oktober were responsible from the imprisonment of several dissidents in the Lubianka.

Oktober was uncomfortable with the reforms that were brought on by General Secretary Gorbachev. Openness, restructuring, and acceleration seemed to be foreign concepts to the members of Oktober. It was also during this time that the non-Russian members of Oktober were allowed to leave Oktober. This greatly reduced the numbers of Ubers in Oktober. One of the most famous members of Oktober to return to his native Poland was the speedster Chromedome. When Oktober reformed, Chromdome returned to the group. Another exception was the Czech Uber called Pitchblende. His nuclear powers were deemed too unstable to allow him to return home, and he was made to remain with Oktober.

One of the last acts of heroism perpetrated by Oktober was the freeing of Gorbachev after he was held prisoner in the Crimea. Super-Spetzna III was killed in the assault. However, this was the end of Gorbachev's power. Upon his return to Moscow, no one would follow him. The people had turned to Boris Yeltsin who became the first president of the Russian Federation.

Oktober, however, were seen as an embarassment to the new Russian Federation. At first the members of Oktober were willing to go quietly, but Baba Natasha who was the leader at the time objected. For her efforts she was commited to an insane asylum and Oktober was disbanded. The other members of Oktober were scattered to the four winds.

It wasn't until the announcement of the formation of Russian Dawn that Baba Natasha broke free of the asylum. Since then Baba Natasha spent about two years gathering back together Oktober. She explained to the others that they had been cast of by a nation that didn't deserve their suffering. So it was time to bring the Russian Federation to its knees, and bring about a new Oktober Revolution. Baba Natasha has offered each member of Oktober a place in the government of Russia that is dominated by Ubers, the way it should be.
Area of Operations
Oktober generally stays active in the Russian Federation, the former members of the Soviet Union, and even as far as the Balkan States. Generally the furthest into Europe that Oktober acts has been Germany, and Italy. Occasionally Oktober has even known to cladestinely opperate in Mongolia, China, and rarely into Japan.
Goals
The goals of the members of Oktober are varied and many. Baba Natasha being the leader of the large and sometime factious group of Ubers has plainly stated to the others that Oktober will reclaim their lost place in society. How Oktober is to achieve this goal, seems to be in doubt. A few of the members of Oktober are out and out criminals (Iron Guard, and Borzoi for example), others are forced to continue with Oktober because of their powers or their commitment to Baba Natasha (Pitchblende, Prachvost, and Eye-Van for example). Others stay with Oktober because they have no other place to be (Cossack, Chromedome, and Professor for example). Finally others are lost without the security provided by belonging to Oktober (such as Super-Spetzna IV, Apparatchik, and Martyoshka). It's the force of determination of Baba Natasha that welds the dispartate members into a whole. This makes Oktober a force to reckon with.
Reputation
Oktober once was considered a heroic group, at least by the people of the Soviet Union. Outside the Soviet Union they weren't known as well, but after the downing of the Korean civilian plane the group was classified as a villainous group. The American Central Intelligence Agency had long been aware of Oktober due to their involvement in countering the Russian invasion of Afghanistan.

Today most Russians, felt that Oktober are a bunch of relics, and are a reminder of the bad old days under the communist rule. Only hard line communists have a soft spot in their hearts for Oktober. However, Oktober isn't seeking to reestablish the communist rule, but have used it has a smokescreen to further their cause.
