Background

Once a priest of Tezcatlipoca, Huitzilopachtli had a talent as a sorceror. As he learned more, he grew in power, both magical and political. Soon, he was a high priest and was one that brought the knife down on those sacrificed to his god. Yet, he found that he himself could drink of the power of his knife and he laid several enchantments on it. The Toltec weakened and the Aztecs conquered them, taking much of their culture for themselves. The priest of Tezcatlipoca addressed the Aztecs as a god would and they assumed he was so.

The Aztecs revered him as a God of War and God of the Sun, and for this he grew further in power. They said that he was always at war and required the blood and hearts of human sacrifice to replenish that which he lost in his wars.

The powers of the gods of the Aztecs began to wane after the Conquistadors took the Empire as their own and brought their priests to convert the people. Huitzilopachtli saw the other gods becoming weaker and sick as time passed and felt his own power weakening. No longer did human blood flow to give him strength, instead, one by one, he brought his knife upon the other gods. First among them was the powerful god that he had once worshipped, Tezcatlipoca. The blood of gods was enough to sustain him for half a millenium.

Nearly dead, the sorceror-turned-god was revived one day, on Dios de la Muerte when Latino gang members of a maximum security prison in Southern California struck out against the other racial gangs. The blood bath was finally halted when extra security guards were brought in. But, before it ended several enemy gang members had been sacrificed by members of the East L.A. Gang known as La Raza. And Huitzilopachtli became strong once again.

Personality

Huitzilopachtli is a blood-thirsty sorceror who has learned how to use the power released when a human dies. Currently, he is patron god of several gangs in Central America and in the South and Western United States. He backs them up, they bring him humans to sacrifice. If left unchecked, he would like to rule Aztec lands once again and then, perhaps, the world beyond as well.

Quote

"Be grateful human, your blood shall sustain a God."

Powers

Huitzilopachtli was first a sorceror and then a god. As such, he can cast a wide array of sorcerous spells: destructive spells, spells which summon vile beings, and beneficial spells which extract a toll from the benificiary. As a god, he is virtually immortal, but since there is a paucity of worshippers, he tends to sustain himself with his blood-drinking knife.

Appearance

A self-made god, he looks the part: tall, copper skinned, and heavily muscled. He wears typical aztec attire including gold ornaments and feathers on lightly tanned leather clothing. His red-stained obsidian knife is almost always in his hand.
