Background

The Zanfuir were an expanding spacefaring race. One of their pre-colonial ships landed on Earth, but before the preparations could begin, the crew contracted a viral disease with a long latency. Before they knew it all of them became ill and exceedingly violent. What was worse, two courier ships had already made stops their and carried the disease back to Zanfuir.

Nearing the end of its power plants life, the birthing machine trapped four species of ape that were similar to the Zanfuir and infused Zanfuiran genes into some of their embryos. The modified hominid embryos never developed as their was some sort of gene regulatory pathway conflict. And while the modified embryos of gorilla, orangutan, and chimp did develop and were born, the Zanfuiran genes, that would have provided higher intelligence and, occasionally, remarkable powers, remained dormant as insufficient levels of radon were in the environment to activate them. Tens of thousands of years passed before the project came to fruition.

George was a gorilla captured from the Congo jungle and brought to the Philadephia Zoo. He was an unremarkable ape until one day a young boy taunted him and George growled from behind the bars. Surprised and a bit afraid the lad threw at George a bag of green beans that he had bought from a shuyster. The gorilla continued to snarl at the boy until he went away. Then he sniffed the bag and they beans smelled delicious.

So he ate one. It made him feel ill at first but then something remarkable happened. He finally began understanding what the zookeepers and visitors were saying. After a week of figuring things out, he escaped from the zoo.

Personality

George spent the first year of his life tracking down Zanruiran artifacts and now believes that he was implanted on Earth as an agent for the Zanfuirans He now has dedicated his life to a specific agenda, that is, to reach Zanfuir himself before humans achieve space flight and to bring back a Zanfuiran army to conquer the Earth. Towards this end, he aids criminal humans to destabilize society and helps to promote war between the largest human nations.

Powers

George has both the Zanfuiran genes for sentient intelligence, rare among Earth apes. He also has an active Zanfuiran ubergene that provides him with superior physical ability for the first hour after he consumes a green bean that contains low levels of radon.

George appears to be a typical mountain gorilla, but turns brilliant green for the first hour after he consumes one of his green beans.
