Eagle Owl first appeared during the Eritrean-Ethiopian war of 1998 as a member of the Ethiopian troops who quickly reacted to the Eritrean uberhumans. There were initially twenty four Ethiopian uberhumans and details on them are still scarce. Eagle Owl maintained a high profile throughout the two and half years of conflict, although it was clear that he had little formal military training and relied on his own martial arts expertise and raw physical power.

After the war, Eagle Owl disappeared south, moving through several countries and then across to the United States where he became involved in organised crime in Argus City and later Atlantic City. His reasons for travelling to the United States were never made clear but during his time there he came into conflict with several uberhuman heroes including Owl Man who became something of a nemesis.

While in Atlantic City Eagle Owl was attacked by a group of aliens known as the Skellarians and he was captured and taken to a hidden base. Owl Man and his friend Captain Comet managed to track the alien base and rescued him, although the experience had shaken him immensely. It was revealed that Eagle Owl was only partly human, his biological father being a member of an obscure race once conquered by the Skellarians. Eagle Owl was equally attracted to this secret heritage and repulsed by its implications. His beastly temperament became exacerbated and he fled from the custody of Owl Man, eventually finding his way back to Ethiopia.

Not much is known of the Skellarians and even less about the war-torn world known as Te Rangu where its inhabitants seem to be caught in endless blood feuds. The Skellarians conquered Te Rangu and enslaved the race to use them as shock troops in their ever-expanding campaigns, but the Te Ranguans were not equipped to survive off their planet and became weak and ineffective. The Skellarians culled what shock troops they had and quarantined the planet. They seem to have no idea how Eagle Owl's father managed to reach earth or what happened to him since, but their interest in Eagle Owl is related to his ability to thrive where the other Te Ranguans have failed. They hope to capture him and use him to breed up a new generation of Te Ranguans.

Eagle Owl knows nothing of his father except what he has gleaned form the Skellarians, and while he has no interest in finding his father he has every intent to stop the Skellarians from taking up residence on Earth - and particularly in stopping them from using him as a breeding unit. While he still continues to cause some trouble across northern Africa it is his bloodthirsty pursuit of the aliens which often brings him into the public's eye. He has clashed violently with Africa Force on a number of occasions and even more frequently with Five Pillars.

Geltu Kesito is a hybrid human-Te Ranguan, a revelation which has plunged him into a state of identity crisis. His naturally aggressive behaviour has been augmented by the knowledge that such a trait is famous in his father's race. It is as if he has been given an excuse to act with malice and spite and he has given up any hope of controlling it.

Eagle Owl has cast away any allegiance to Ethiopia and possibly even to Earth itself, however he has a very strong survivor's instinct and has decided to actively hunt down the Skellarians who threaten him, rather than wait for them to come to him. At this period of his life Eagle Owl is ensnared in an identity crisis - a battle for his very soul - so everything else takes a back seat. Whether he ever manages to come to terms with his heritage and takes control of his future remains to be seen.

"You stand between a man and his goal. It is a dangerous position to hold."

Initially it was assumed that Eagle Owl was an uberhuman, although recent revelations indicate that he is, in fact, part alien. The Te Ranguan species are evolved from a bird-like creature and have strong wings with wingspans in excess of 2m. They are stronger, faster and more durable than humans and they possess a fierce bloodlust which has kept their civilisation at a stand still for centuries. As an alien hybrid, Eagle Owl is slightly weaker than the average Te Ranguan although he also possesses power over time and space, enabling him to shunt himself into a parallel dimension for short periods of time as well as effectively teleport over short distances. These powers are not usual for Te Ranguans, and uberhuman abilities, as they are known on Earth, have also been ruled out.

Eagle Owl is a trained combatant, specialising in a martial art known as Re-Efi Areh-Ehsee. He has modified his armoured costume to include razor sharp talons on his feet as well as retractable claws in his gloves.

Eagle Owl is tall and powerfully built. His impressive appearance is reinforced with dark wings which sprout from his back. In costume he wears a silver-grey shirt with a wing and blue disk motif, dark grey cowl and pants; black boots and gloves. His eyes are brown but have a tendency to shift into a golden colour when he uses his heightened sight or becomes more beast-like. He keeps his head shaved and maintains an intense physical training regime. While he is rarely out of costume, he can sometimes be seen wearing a simple pair of shorts and allowing his wings to stretch free from fabric. He maintains a residence outside of Addis Ababa, up in the mountains, and can be seen flying at sunset most nights.
