Background

Eileen Flannigan at first thought it was turbulence that rocked the airliner violently, but after looking out the wing she knew things were worse. A woman with huge crow-like wings was running up the wing towards the fuselage, and she was armed with a pair of revolvers in each hand. As the woman ran she fired. Bullets pinged off of the shell of the airliner, and some bursting into the pressurized cabin.

Eileen was dragged forward into a breech that was created by the winged woman’s shots. The tear became bigger and bigger, and eventually large enough to drag her out of the plane. Eileen could do nothing but scream as she was pulled bodily from the airliner. As she fell she could see the winged woman wasn’t really shooting at the plane but was actually firing at costumed teenager who was flitting about the airliner trying to avoid being shot by the woman.

All of this seemed to go in slow motion as Eileen fell, unnoticed by the fighting Ubers. As she fell a rage seemed to build in Eileen. How could these people treat the Irish like this. Eileen say that the teenager was wearing the union jack. Why couldn’t they just fight in their country and leave Ireland alone.

The rage consumed Eileen and in a moment she burst into flames, but not regular flames. Green flames danced up and down her body, but the flames didn’t hurt in the least. Her anger quickly turned to hope. Now she too had the power to fight against those who plagued Ireland. Unfortunately Eileen was too close to the ground when her latent Uber powers manifested themselves. The mound of hay she crashed in burst into flames as she struck it, and she quickly passed out.

Later Eileen woke to find herself in a bed with this odd looking man standing over her. She was about to unleash a burst of emerald fire at him, but found that her arm was in a sling. The man didn’t seem to even notice the sudden change in her.

“So I see that you’re away. Good, good. Didn’t think I’d ever see a woman falling from the sky like that. A flaming one at them. Wonders never cease, do they?” the man said with a charming smile.

“Oh where are me manners, I am Robert Murdoch.”

“I’m Eileen Flannigan.”

Over the next few months Eileen as healed the two talked a lot. Robert was a bartender at a nearby pub, but was also had secrets of her own. Like Eileen, Robert showed a strong distrust of the British or any government for that matter. Later Robert revealed that he had super powers of his own. Together they decided to form a group of their own to help the Irish drive the British away from Ireland. It was Robert who came up with name of Provos.

Robert took on the code-name: Shillelagh while Eileen took the code-name: Emerald Fire.

Personality

Eileen is committed to the idea of reuniting Ireland into a single nation. The idea of two separate nations on the island is bete noire to Eileen. Eileen sees the Provos as a way to wake up the complacent Irish into action and reclaim the lost part of Ireland that was stolen by the British.

Eileen is also the most stubborn and close minded person in all of Ireland. She refuses to even see anyone’s point of view. For Eileen the reuniting of Ireland is more important than anything else. To Eileen everyone else is just being complacent or pigheaded.

Eileen is a fervent supporter of the Irish Cause as she sees it. There isn’t anything Eileen wouldn’t do to protect Ireland, especially if it meant the reuniting of the country.

Powers

Eileen posses fiery powers which she calls her “Emerald Fire”. Using her powers Eileen is able to surround herself with flames that burn green. These flames act as a barrier that protect Eileen from most energy, especially fire based powers, and some physical attacks. In fact those who’d try to physically strike Eileen can be burned by her fiery aura.

Naturally Eileen can project the flames from her body. Eileen usually projects her flames in either a fiery cone, in an explosive burst, or in an all out fiery blast. She can also form cages of fire around a foe, to which if the bars are touched they’ll be burned. In addition Eileen can produce massive amounts of heat that weaken her foes that are protected from the heat.

Using her “Emerald Fire” powers, Eileen is able to fly leaving behind a fiery trail. Those using fire based powers against Eileen often find that instead of harming her, make her more powerful. When summoning up her powers Eileen can instantly change from her normal clothes into her costume. This is usually is accompanied by a burst of green flames.

Appearance

Eileen is an attractive woman, who when she transforms into Emerald Fire, is surrounded by green flames. Her more normally blond hair turns a vibrant green, and her eyes take on a yellowish flame like tinge. As Emerald Fire, Eileen wears a two piece body suit that matches her flames. Her costume has a bare midriff but otherwise covers her body except for her head, which she leaves bare. When Eileen calls up her powers, she is surrounded by flames and when they die down she’s wearing her costume.

When not in her “Emerald Fire” guise, Eileen usually wears her flight attendant uniform, but at other times she’ll wear a sensible green skirt along with a silk blouse.
