Background

An Orlando native, Meg Wulf met Mike Bowman in college in Boston—he was at MIT and she attended Emerson College. A free spirit, she was drawn to this man of quiet brilliance who concentrated all of his genius on whimsical ends. The two fell deeply in love and married, and she took his name. With her family in Orlando and at least half of Mike’s soul at his favorite company’s theme parks in that city, it was only natural that they would settle in Orlando after they graduated. Her communications degree helped her find a minor PR job with the same company, but after they had their son, Zack, she decided to try something a little different, and she used a connection she’d made through the company to get an interview at the mayor’s office. There she felt fully challenged, fully realized for the first time in her life, diving into public relations—and, by extension, politics—with every ounce of her being. Like some others in Orlando, she came to feel resentment toward her former employer for the control it had over the city and its resources. And as her responsibilities grew, she became less and less enamored with her husband’s whimsical goals. She knew that he was one of the smartest people of his generation, knew that he could be making leaps in any technological field. And yet he was concerned almost solely with whatever the newest park attraction was. Plus, he was often called out of the country on business, helping to develop theme parks around the world. She began to feel resentful, morally superior, and lonely, and that combination led ultimately to their divorce. She threw herself into work, becoming indispensable to the mayor’s office and gaining name recognition herself.

Mike’s superhero career after their divorce did little to mend fences between the two. She felt that it placed Zack in danger, as well as injuring her career by making her into “Doctor Tomorrow’s ex-wife” instead of her own person. They reconciled somewhat after his injury, but by then she was dating someone else: Jason McAllister, Monster Man of the Heroes of Filmland.

Personality
Meg’s heart isn’t really missing, nor is she solely at fault for the divorce, but she has changed in ways that Mike has not, and that adversely affected their relationship. She’s surrounded by people who think that his company’s attractions are cute, but silly, and who resent the extent to which the city is dependent on that company’s revenues—direct and indirect. People who encounter her find her very professional and businesslike, slightly distant, and very bright and politically savvy. Some colleagues predict that she will be mayor of Orlando within four years.

Despite her seriousness, she can be quite playful with Zack, and puts his needs above her own. She met Jason McAllister at a charity event and he flirted with her outrageously. She tells herself that he’s not as shallow as he sometimes seems, but the truth she’s not willing to admit to herself is that she’s dating him largely for the increased attention it draws her (different, to her, anyway, from the attention she received as Doctor Tomorrow’s ex) and as a buffer against her vulnerable feelings toward Mike. Deep down, she still loves Mike, despite her disappointment in the frivolous ways in which he uses his intellect. If she could keep her success in and love for politics, while still embracing the fun-loving free spirit she used to be, she’d be much happier, but she hasn’t reached that point yet.
Quote
Quote: “He built a robot of the world’s sweetest and most famous British nanny to look after our son. How is any mother supposed to compete with Mary #$^@# Pop-pins?”
Quote About Her: “I find myself wishing I could clap my hands and bring my old Meg back, but it doesn’t work. It’s like part of her heart is missing.”—Mike Bowman (the first Doctor Tomorrow)
Powers

Meg has no superpowers. She is intelligent, charismatic, and politically savvy, and has many connections in the city of Orlando and beyond.

Appearance

Meg is an attractive woman in her mid 30s, with a fit, tanned body, short-cropped blonde hair, and hazel eyes. She looks like the classic “tennis mom,” but a little smarter, more self-aware, and more dignified.
