The man wearing the trench coat slunk inside of the circus tent of Stromboli's Super Spectacular Circus. Nigel Thornapple was a hunted man. He cast his eyes over the crowds trying to spot the hit men that surely were after him. Nigel thought to himself that it had been a terrible idea of his to take the money those Red Brigade terrorists had given him to buy guns and instead place it on a sure bet at the racetrack. Once again Nigel cursed Lady Luck. Those Red Brigade chaps were going to be really mad at him about this. However, Nigel was confident that his meeting today with Don Calamari would insure that Nigel would get the money back. And he didn't think those terrorist would consider striking at him with all these people around.

Nigel felt somewhat safer in the crowds of circus goers. Children and their parents jostled all around. Nigel was sure that the hit men hadn't found him. Nigel was wrong. Not too far behind him were two Italian men wearing trench coats similar to Nigel's. Giovanni and Antonio were both hit men employed by the Red Brigade for the express purpose of eliminating Nigel Thornapple. Neither hit man really cared who they killed to achieve their objective.

The show had started. Nigel found a place to fit, and the hit men were forced to fall back. In the center ring a circus strongman stepped out into the spotlight. This large muscular man was dressed in white pantaloons, a embroidered vest, and turban. He was introduced to the crowd at Suleyman the Magnificent, the Strongest Man in The World. The strongman went through the usual act of lifting immense weights, bending bars, etc... It was while the act was changing that Giovanni and Antonio decided to act. As Suleyman was stepping out of the spotlight, a troupe of elephants were taking to the ring.

Standing up the hit men pulled pistols out from under their trench coats, quickly aimed them towards Nigel and fired. Two quick things happened next. Nigel who was on the look out, ducked down out of sight. The other was Suleyman. The strongman saw out of the corner of his eye what was going on and immediately charged. Both hit man missed their target. The sound of the pistols greatly upset the elephants who trumpeted their fear and anger. Giovanni turned his pistol on the charging strongman. Oddly enough his bullets, and Giovanni fired a whole clip, they actually bounced off of Suleyman's chest like he was made of iron.

In an instant Suleyman was on him. Before Giovanni knew what was happening he was flying through the air before crashing to the ground. Antonio, thinking the better of it, took to his heels. It was utter chaos in the tent. People were screaming and trying their best to get out the tent away from the gunfire. To make matters worse, one of the elephants had gone into a rage. Trumpeting loudly, the elephant charged the crowd. Suleyman only had a moment to interpose his body between the crowds and the angered elephant. With a swing of its trunk it struck at Suleyman.

Now Suleyman was flying backwards into the crowd. Angrily the elephant focused on him. Raising an immense foot the elephant tried to stomp the man into the ground. Amazingly, Suleyman grabbed the elephant's foot and actually prevented the elephant from crushing him. With a super-human heave Suleyman toppled the elephant onto its back. The elephant was too confused by this act to react. At that instant the elephant's handlers were back to calm the animal down and lead it away.

People were screaming and running amok. Suleyman was sure someone would get killed if he didn't do something fast. Looking around, he noticed that the exit was packed and people were going to get crushed. Rushing to the nearest wall, Suleyman grabbed the fabric and pulled. The fabric ripped easily and Suleyman yelled over his shoulder for everyone to follow him.

Outside the tent things weren't much better. The owner of the circus rushed up a Suleyman yelling at him. "You Turk, you Turk, what have you done?" the man yelled in Suleyman's face. Suleyman ignored the man, as best he could, Suleyman was more concerned about the people. However, when the man laid a hand on Suleyman he reacted. The man will be out of the hospital next week. Later Suleyman went to the hospital to apologize to the circus owner, but he couldn't even get a word in edgewise. The circus owner promptly fired him.

The morning papers came out the next day with a picture of Suleyman on the cover. The head lines read "Turk Saves Circus." However, Suleyman was out of job, even though he was a hero in many peoples eyes. Suleyman was proud for what he did, but a little sad to. That morning found Suleyman sitting on a stump on the road side just outside of Verona reading the paper. The circus had left town the day before. While reading the paper an expensive sports car roared by and then stopped suddenly about a kilometer away. With a squeal of tires the driver reversed the sports car coming to a halt in front of Suleyman.

"Say are you that Turk?" asked man in the car.

"Si, si that's me. For all the good it has done me." answered Suleyman with a frown.

"Well, I just heard about what you did for all those people. Man you're a hero in my eyes. Say have you heard about the trouble the Dawnstars have been having. The rumor is that they are dropping dead all over the place. Say they might need a chap like you." said the man.

"Maybe." said Suleyman.

"Well, I'm heading to Venice. Need a lift?" asked the man.

"Sure, why not." said Suleyman standing up folding his paper and going around the sports car to get in the passenger side.

"By the way," said the man, "my name is Nigel, Nigel Thornapple. Nice to meet you." Nigel put the sports car in gear and sped east towards Venice.

Suleyman has always stood up for the little guy. When he was younger, he was always the hero in the war games his friends played. Now that he's an adult, Suleyman sees it no differently. Suleyman wants to project that he's a guardian of the little guy. While he didn't start out to become a super-hero it is something that he has no regrets about either. Suleyman always tries to project the proper image of what a hero should be.

Like most super-heroes, Suleyman has a great respect for life. That is mostly what he's fighting crime for. As such Suleyman goes out of his way to protect innocents from harm, and would never consider taking another persons life. To Suleyman this is something a true hero would never do.

The one odd quirk of Suleyman's nature is that he's really competitive. While he might turn down a wager or a competition, once he's in he's in. Suleyman's favorite hobby, besides weight lifting is chess. He can spend hours playing chess against a worthy opponent if given a chance. It was in Bologna that he once had a chance meeting with Midas in a tavern and challenged the Greek to a game of chess. Oddly enough Midas agreed. When it looked like the Greek was going to loose he destroyed the chess set and went off in a huff.

Midas also destroyed half of the tavern as well. Suleyman and Midas have been enemies since. Suleyman is always going out of his way to make the Greek look bad.

"Oh stop that; that tickles."

Suleyman has had super-powers for as long as he can remember. He's a carrier of the uber-gene. His uber-gene expresses itself in several ways. Primarily it grants Suleyman super human strength. Suleyman is so strong he can press the weight of a tank with ease. As a side effect of this increased strength, he has an equally powerful resistance to harm. Bullets have a tendency to bounce of Suleyman's chest. Knives have even been known to bend against Suleyman's flesh.

Suleyman's immense strength is also in his legs, allowing Suleyman to leap over long distances. Due to his circus training Suleyman is very accurate in his jumps. Furthermore, Suleyman can stiffen up the muscles in his body making himself practically unmovable.

The other change the uber-gene has provided Suleyman is that his flesh mends itself rather quickly. Suleyman can recover from wounds faster than a normal person could. Wounds that would put most people into the hospital, Suleyman shrugs off. It was during the aforementioned encounter with Midas that Suleyman learned of his healing factor. When Midas unleashed his powers, he did wound Suleyman, but it wasn't long before Suleyman was back on his feet.

Due to his circus training, Suleyman has learned a number of strength tricks. Using a handy object, Suleyman can twist it around a foe trapping them. Or by clapping his hands together Suleyman can cause a terrible sound wave that deafens his foes. To be dramatic Suleyman has been known to use his finger as a weapon. With a mere flick of his mighty finger he can render a foe unconscious.

Suleyman is a tall muscular man with a bronze-like complexion. He has short curly brown hair and brown eyes as well. Suleyman also has a goatee growing from his chin. Suleyman wears a modified version of his circus strongman costume. This consists of brown goatskin boots with pointed toes, white pantaloons, a white leather vest with Arabesque writing in gold along the fringes, and of course a tightly wound white turban. When not trying to draw attention to himself, which is difficult because Suleyman is recognized all over Italy as that Turk who saved the circus, Suleyman likes to wear fashionable European clothing along with sun glasses to possibly hide from the paparazzi.
