Background

After Nephthys emerged from the tomb that contained the Well of Shadows she surveyed the land all around. To the north she spied the cities of the corrupt Egyptians. To the goddess the people had become more Arab than Egyptian. They had turned their backs on the glory of the dynasties. The goddess sighed in disappointment. How could the mortals achieve rebirth, believing in a false deity like Allah. How the Egyptians had fallen.

Nephthys looked down on the Nile, the true mother of Egypt. The seasonal flooding of the mighty river ensured that Egypt would always be fertile. It horrified the goddess when she saw what the people had done to the Nile River. The mortals had dammed the river. This would never do. Not only had they committed sacrilege in her eyes, but had buried the tombs of several important pharaohs under the waters of Lake Nasser. For the goddess this would be her first act in her flan to free Set from his bondage.

Summoning a loyal sand sphinx, Nephthys commanded it to carry her down to the rivers edge. The sand sphinx flew up and down the river until it found what Nephthys was looking for. Buried in the bank of the river was a clutch of crocodile eggs. Gingerly, Nephthys walked over to the nest. Normally the female crocodile would have prevented such an intrusion, but one look at the goddess cowered the female. Nephthys picked through the nest tossing aside the ones that didn’t please her. Eventually she came across a large egg that was just right. The rest of the eggs she trod upon as she returned to the waiting sand sphinx.

It was back at the Well of Shadows that Nephthys drew arcane symbols on the shell before dropping it into the roiling waters of the well. A hissing sound echoed through the chamber as the spell began. As the magic reached climax the sound of a cracking egg reverberated around the chamber. Crawling out of the pool was an immense crocodile almost eight meters in length. Free from the Well of Shadows the beast roared loudly.

The massive crocodile crawled forward and knelt before the goddess its enormous head bowed in reverence.

“Arise Sebek,” commanded Nephthys, “I’ve called you forth from the Well of Shadows to serve me and the Lord Set.”

The beast raised itself from the floor, but it was no longer was just a crocodile, but the avatar of the supernatural being known as Sebek, the crocodile god. The avatar, a cross between a man and crocodile stood before his mistress and smiled. What destruction he could cause in this new body knew no bounds.

Personality

Sebek is a crocodile imbued with essences of the Egyptian crocodile god. As such, while Sebek has some of the intelligence of the god, it’s still very much an animal. Sebek is very bestial when it comes to fighting. He’ll gladly devour fallen foes if given the opportunity. Due to the enchantments placed upon him by Nephthys, he’s a very loyal subject of the Mistress of Magic.

Quote

Crocodile Form: “Roooaar!"

Lesser Form: “Oh what a tasty morsel has presented itself to me.”

Powers

Sebek is an imbued crocodile. As such in its more natural crocodile form, Sebek is a supernaturally strong crocodile. Sebek is armed with mouth full of teeth, steel rending talons, and can break down walls with a sweep of its tail. Sebek’s skin is heavily armored, and it is difficult to actually harm him.

In his lesser form, Sebek is more humanoid with abilities similar to its total crocodilian form. The major advantage for Sebek to take this form is that it can actually swim faster, and can communicate with others.

Appearance

In his more crocodilian form Sebek looks exactly like a Nile crocodile, albeit one of immense size. A glint of intelligence is visible in his eyes. In his lesser form Sebek look more human, but just barely. In this form Sebek has the head of a crocodile, and the body of a human. He wears a headdress on his head that looks like a wig, a suit of ancient Egyptian armor, a skirt, and armbands and bracelets. Due to his appearance it would be impossible to Sebek to mingle with normal humans. Instead he stays close to the goddess acting as a bodyguard.
