Background

During the heyday of the Russian space program, Vassily Bulenkov was a famous cosmonaught with a number of important missions under his belt. however, on his last mission into space, something went terribly wrong. An oxygen tank exploded in his spacecraft killing all of the crew, except for Vassily. The spacecraft was also heavily damaged by the explosion.

Things went totally out of control, but it was through Vassilies increadible flying skills that he was able to control the spacecrafts decaying orbit to a degree. It was unfortunate that the spacecraft spend almost five hours within the Van Allen radiation belt. Vassily was bombarded by a massive dose of radiation. Finally Vassily passed out, and lost what little control he had over the spacecraft.

Eventually the spacecraft return to Earth, a long way off from its intended drop point. The spacecraft crashed in the Artic Ocean, and promptly sank. The spacecraft was quickly located by a nearby Russian submarine, but Vassilies body wasn't found. His body was never recovered and Vassily was presumed dead. A state memorial service was held in his honor.

However, unknown to the Russians, Vassily still lived, but his body was encased in ice not far from the downed spacecraft. The radiation and the expossure to the extreme cold of the ice activated his latent Ubergene. It was ten years before Vassily was freed from his icy tomb. A Russian Aeroloft jet plane crashed near where Vassily was entombed. The intense heat from the crash melted the ice holding him prisoner.

For a while Vassily was used by the government, and was a member of the KGB super-hero group called Oktober, Vassily went by the code name of Prachvost or Blackguard after the color of the ice his powers generated. It was during the defense of Moscow that he was wounded by a stray bullet. The wound caused him to loose his memory, and with it his powers.

Later Vassily moved to Vladivostok, and started to raise a family. He married and had a daughter. Vassily never thought about his past life, but all that changed after his fishing vessel crashed. The cold waters of the Sea of Japan brought back the old memories and with them his dormant powers. Forgetting completely about his family Vassily returned to Moscow only to find that his old comrades in Oktober were now considered criminals. Feeling a kinship with the members of Oktober, Vassily threw his lot in with them.

Personality

Vassily doesn't want to do what he does, but feels obligated to assist Baba Natasha in reestablishing Oktobers prominence. He has always been a loyal person, and takes his loyalty very seriously. He would never betray Oktober. However, given a choice Vassily would give up his life as a super-villain and return to his humble home in Vladivostok.

He can be very cynical at times. Vassily was a part of the old communist system. He saw how the world ran under the Communists, and doesn't see that the world has changed much since. Vassily becomes sarcastic when faced with true altruism.

Quote

"Let the icy cold grip of Prachvost welcome you to the Afterlife."

Powers

Prachvost is an Uber who has control over cold and ice. He's able to create a felxible but strong shell of ice around his body that protects him from most attacks. Prachvost can project ice or extreme cold from his hands, and has over the years proven to be a very versitile Uber. By directing his powers towards the ground, Prachvost can create ice slides that allows him to move about rapidly.

Appearance

When Prachvost is armored up in his ice armor he appears like a man made completely out of black ice. Under his ice armor, Prachvost wears a Russian Space Agency uniform which a blue jumpsuit. To hide his identity, Prachvost wears a cosmonaught skullcap along with a visor that covers the upper half of his face. However, when iced up it's impossible to determine who Prachvost really is.
