Background

The ancient terror was thought to be long ago extinguished. No one could remember much about it. But, it did still have a place in folklore. Manananggal, the residents called it, or Ashwaggi. A bogeyman, the winged terror, now used to scare children so that they would stay in the house at night.

Something awoke her and the Philippine police began to search for a serial murderer. Conde de la Muerte realized, from the news reports, what was happening, and tracked the Manananggal down. He captured and then bound her to his control.

Personality

For the most part, Manananggal is beholden to the word of Conde de la Muerte. So, she is rarely found doing things on her own. If given the chance to carry out her own will, she will blend in with the population and attack her victims at night.

Powers

The Manananggal is well skilled in the martial art known as Kali using fists, feet, and weapons with equal proficiency. In addition, it can split in two. The upper half still retains the ability to use Kali with weapons, but also can fly and drink blood. The lower half can run and use Kali maneuvers with its feet.

Appearance

In its normal form, the Manananggal appears to be a pretty woman. She has adapted modern clothes just as the rest of the Filipino population has. When she sees or smells blood or sees a pregnant woman, her basal instincts take over and her body splits in two. The upper half sprouts wings and seeks to feed.
