Her mother is Stephanie Oswald, the retired superhero known as Speedy. Stephanie Oswald puzzled out the secret identity of superhuman Samsonite, a teacher at her school. Samantha met Stephanie after school, and set up laboratory screening for her. Tests revealed that Stephanie was becoming a super speedster.

Samantha coached Stephanie on how to become a superhero.

Stephanie and Samantha became Speedy and her sidekick Samsonite, the youngest heroes in Birmingham, searching for crime after classes and on weekends. Speedy got most of the credit, but then she was doing most of the work. Samsonite was carried around town at nigh-supersonic speeds, helping Speedy and many others.

They patrolled area streets, stopping crimes by normals when they found them in progress. They stopped many muggings and a significant number of holdups. They caused very little property damage, and became popular heroes. They confronted the occasional super-villain, where they used team tactics. Speedy threw the villain to the ground in front of Samsonite, who punched the villain before he could get up and out of the way. This usually knocked out the villain in a hurry, although it was hard on the pavement.

A couple years later, Stephanie left high school and crime fighting for Oxford University. Here she met Ernst Van Der Lught, the South African superhuman known as Ramjet. He was an Anglican minister whose powers gave him utter control over kinetic energy. He used it mostly to fly *very* quickly (his top speed was around Mach 4 and he could turn on a freaking dime without pulling excess gs... because he could nullify his own momentum) and increase the power of his punches, increase his strength, and make himself mostly immune to physical damage.

He was charitable to a fault, cheerful, and a devout Christian. He died rescuing First Responders during the collapse of the World Trade Center.

Valora was conceived on the same day that South Africa's new constitution was adopted. From birth, she was slightly stronger and quicker and tougher than the median infant, and the gap increased marginally every year until puberty, when it widened to a yawning chasm. She attends Oxford High School, starting there when she was four years old, a couple weeks before her father died. Valora is an Athena House member. She earns 6,000 pounds sterling annually as a part time Mandarin language tutor. Valora composes, sings and performs music, mostly with her guitar. Oxford High School regularly ranks as one of the country's highest single-sex independent schools in terms of examination results. The school was ranked first in the South East in a Sunday Times survey based on exam results and "value for money". In the 2011 examinations it was ranked amongst the top 20 independent schools nationwide for GCSE results and the best performing girls' school in the A Levels.

In 2001, the school was threatened with a lawsuit by the Freud family, who accused the administration of excluding their daughter because her academic results were not of a high enough standard, when the junior school refused her admittance to the Senior Department. In 2006, the school became the first in Oxfordshire to make Mandarin a compulsory subject. Pupils will study it for at least a year and can choose to either continue or learn another language.

Last year, Celerity interrupted an assassination attempt, and it was so well planned, too, more's the pity. The Hunter started a rumor in the Stranger's Room of the Diogenes Club that the finest English Breakfast Tea, Richard Davies Best Blend, was to be found at School Field, and that it included the costly Keemun (Chinese: Qimun Red Tea), a fruity, winy fermented black leaf. Diogenes Club is a front for the British Secret Service, and as such, Agent Ape, mad for the best British teas, picked up on this rumor. Our Agent knew that Richard Davies was the originator of English Breakfast tea, in New York City, 1843. Inquiries turned up that School Field is a serene island in Oxford, surrounded by the River Cherwell. Though our Ape Jafari Banana walked into this trap, his luck held true. The attempt was thwarted with the help of our girl Celerity, who was there as Valora on a picnic date. Camera phones made Celerity a news item.

Also last year, Valora did some modeling work abroad. She found this fun and a very interesting way to expand and develop her outlook on life. Her mother is her manager. She makes sure she know something about the country that she is about to set off to, as well as that country's policy on foreign workers such as whether or not she will need certain items like visas and work permits. Valora does her due diligence, checking before leaving the country her contract for the "what if" factor - making sure her contract does not hold unreasonable terms for compliance such as they will sue her for all costs if she refuses to do some of the work they offer her or take up any "opportunities". She makes sure that she has a return flight ticket (even if it is open ended) and a mobile that will work in Europe and keep it charged, with at least one spare battery, to keep contact with family and loved ones so they know she is safe. She always takes the contact and address details of the British Embassy in case she gets into ANY difficulties.

Valora holds onto her own passport AND return flight ticket- does NOT surrender these to anyone else as instances have been experienced of girls becoming stranded and made to work in situations they did not want to such as glamor and pornographic work to get their tickets and passports back.

When she is taken out to be "entertained," she is very careful of her drinks some cities are quite notorious for older businessmen spiking young model's drinks. Valora does not leave her drink unattended. She checks The Foreign & Commonwealth Office London website, full to the brim of up to date concise information on countries. It also gives you a great deal of information about who you can contact in any hour of desperation whilst abroad and where to contact those organizations. Something you must make sure you know before you go - just in case.

Like her father, Valora is a committed Christian. For years, Valora defended her peers against bullies. Now she's ridiculously well equipped to do so. However, one of these miscreants, the Hunter, seeks revenge.

Valora considers Samantha to be her honorary aunt, though she refers to her as cousin, Samantha's preference.

Due to the loss of her father, Valora is more cognizant of mortality than most people her age. She's the sadder but wiser girl now, which only adds to her mystique for some. She loves to imitate English dialects, and can do scores of them, but had ceased to do so as Valora since her abilities ramped up abruptly, all the better to hide her other identity. She affects an Afrikaans accent as Celerity. Reading, her hobby, supports her inductive reasoning. She starts with the detail to anchor her persuasion in reality, beginning from immediate sensory data of what can be seen and touched and then going to the big picture of ideas, principles and general rules. Valora uses inductive reasoning to make a strong case when she wants to offer a suggestion, and deduction to show proof. She is a member of the school Debating Society.

Valora declines to participate in school athletics, hiding her superpowers. She gathers information and waits with endless patience for that perfect moment to deliver swift justice. She is merciful and relentless, implacable in her resolve.

I'll carry you.

Grace and power, Celerity is unreasonably strong and fast. She can routinely pick up a space shuttle.

Her skin is too tough for needles to pierce, which now precludes blood donation, sutures, inoculations, etc...

In hero ID, Celerity wears a form-fitting black and pink racing suit, with her hair completely concealed by a full helmet including a dark visor. At play, she likes white microfiber track suits with colored inserts. She has the animal magnetism of an attractive athlete, with flowing, tawny hair with slight waves tumbling just past shoulder blades, full lips, and flawless skin.
