Background

"The muscle and scientific mind of Omega Force, William Walls invented a revolutionary process for molecularly fusing steel and stone to create a hybrid substance that looks like rock, but is almost indestructible. Unfortunately, a laboratory accident caught Walls in a testing chamber while the process was underway. Miraculously, he survived and gained incredible strength and resistance to harm as his body acquired many of the traits of the steel-stone material. He feels freakish now, but also driven to use his powers to help humanity." ('Fatal Attractions', page 49)

Jonathan Jason Dell was already well known for his portrayal of homicide detective Abraham Jones in the TV series of the same name. His move to 'To Save The World' came after 'Abraham Jones' was axed and was seen to be a risky endeavor for the serious actor. As the oldest of the principal cast the show's producers only expected Dell to continue working for two seasons at the most, but Dell has shown a great affinity for the role and has continued to draw acclaim for his portrayal of the tortured soul trapped inside a rock-like body.

Dell has also continued his career with a supporting role in the acclaimed film on the American slave trade, 'Underground'. He is married to public relations agent, Jocelyn Nugent, and has two sons from a previous marriage: Jason, 14 and Joshua, 12. The boys alternate between their father and their mother, Ramona Jackson, who lives in Pittsburgh.

Personality

Dell is a veteran actor and has been in the public eye for over ten years, although recently he has been able to 'hide' behind the prosthetic suit of Adamantine. Rather than become cynical with the industry, however, Dell has distanced himself from it, preferring to live in New York and travel to the Los Angeles studios each week. Adamantine is a combination of live action and digital graphics so he is not required for all the shoots.

Quote

"I may look like the token jaw-breaking Neanderthal, but beneath this rugged exterior lies a mind sharper than any enchanted sword."

Powers

Adamantine's body is now composed of the steel-stone substance William Walls created. This form gives Walls enhanced strength, able to press in excess of 100 tonnes, as well as being durable enough to withstand multiple rounds of cannon fire from tanks. Walls is also a genius and uses his mind almost as often as his fists, regularly coming up with solutions that avoid conflict (but usually only after conflict has occurred - the best of both worlds in the eyes of the TV producer).

Appearance

Adamantine's body has undergone several transformations over the five seasons. It began as a silvery exoskeleton but has evolved to become more natural looking, taking on a brown hue with a metallic shine. The computer experts at the studio have manipulated the image and provide almost 40% of Adamantine's presence via digital imagery.

Jonathan Jason Dell is a large man, standing at six feet four inches, and has an impressive presence on screen. He towers over the rest of the cast but is also the most introspective and calm, often avoiding press engagements unless directly requested by management.
